Technology Mission on Cotton (TMC)

The Technology Mission on Cotton (TMC), a Government of India programme to improve the production, productivity, quality, marketing infrastructure and ginning capabilities implemented during February 2000 to December 2010.
Technology Mission on Cotton had four Mini-Missions viz :
Mini-Mission-I: (Cotton Research & Technology Generation, Nodal agency: Indian Council of Agricultural Research),
Mini-Mission-II (Transfer of Technology & development through demonstration and training, Nodal agency : Department of Agriculture Cooperation & Farmers welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers welfare),
Mini-Mission-III: (Improvement of Market Infrastructure through development of market yards, Nodal agency : Ministry of Textiles, Implementing agency : CCI) and
Mini-Mission-IV: (Modernisation/ Upgradation of G&P factories, Nodal agency : Ministry of Textiles, Implementing agency : CCI).
Achievements of Mini Mission-III & IV administered by the Ministry of Textiles through CCI:
Out of 250 market yards sanctioned under MM-III, 246 market yards reported completion and out of 1011 Ginning and Pressing units under MM-IV 859 G&P factories reported modernized.
